Internet Marketing Acronym

I’m busy right now working on my two new websites. that’s the reason why I didn’t have any post these past few days. So how’s life? Hehe.

Last year when I joined in a Filipino community forum about SEO, I heard so many new acronyms that make me out of the topic.
I had to search for each acronym so that I can relate on their conversation.
While searching, I discovered that the acronyms they are using are called Internet Marketing Acronym. So here are some, hope it will help.

ASP (Application Service Provider) - Deploys, hosts and manages access to a packaged application to multiple parties from a centrally managed facility

CPC (Cost per click) - also known as PPC (Pay per click)

CPI (Cost per Impression) - is a phrase often used in online advertising and marketing related to web traffic. It is used for measuring the worth and cost of a specific e-marketing campaign.

CPA (Cost per Acquisition) - which has to do with the fact that most CPA offers by advertisers are about acquiring something (mostly new customers, prospects or leads). Using the term “Cost per Acquisition” instead of “Cost per Action” is not incorrect. It is actually more specific. “Cost per Acquisition” is included in “Cost per Action”, but not all “Cost per Action” offers can be referred to as “Cost per Acquisition”.

CPM (Cost per mille) also called cost per thousand (CPT) - It is used in marketing as a benchmark to calculate the relative cost of an advertising campaign or an ad message in a given medium. Rather than an absolute cost, CPM estimates the cost per 1000 views of the ad.

CPS (Cost per Sale) - A form of advertising where the customer pays a set price for each sale made through a specific link.

CTR (Click through Ratio) - The number of times an ad or link is shown compared to the number of times it was clicked on.

E-Book (Electronic Book) - A popular resource in Internet Marketing to learn and grow their business. There are e-books on just about every other topic as well.

eCPM (Effective Cost Per Mille) - the cost of every 1,000 ad impressions shown. Gives advertisers an estimate of what they would earn with 1,000 imressions.

IM (Internet Marketing) - Leveraging the Internet in order to advertise a company or product.

PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) - A server-side, cross-platform, HTML embedded scripting language.

PLR (Private Label Rights) - A common type of articles, templates and ebooks in which you may use and edit but you may not sell or claim full copyright.

PPC (Pay per click) - is an advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content websites/blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser’s website.

PPCSE (Pay per Click Search Engine) - A search engine that charges advertisers a fee for each click the advertiser receives.

PPP (Pay per play) - is an online advertising method that plays an audio advertisement on websites. The term “pay per play” comes from advertisers paying for each audio ad played. Also, the web page playing the audio ad is normally paid for each ad they serve.

PV (Page View) - When any given page is open by a viewer. One UV (unique visitor) could create several PV’s.

ROI (Return on Investment) - is the ratio of money gained or lost on an investment relative to the amount of money invested.

ROS (Run of Site) - A non-targeted advertising technique that provides the advertiser with the opportunity to reach a broad audience by running ads throughout a website.

SE (Search Engine) - An Internet tool used to find web-site pages relevant to your search query.

SEP (Search Engine Positioning) - The ranking of a website page for a given search term on a search engine.

SEM (Search engine marketing) - is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs). According to the Search Engine Marketing Professionals Organization, SEM methods include: search engine optimization (or SEO), paid placement, and paid inclusion.

SEO (Search engine optimization) - is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site.

SERPS - Search Engine Result Pages - The page in which the results of a search engine query are displayed.

UV (Unique Visitor) - One individual visitor to a web-site. If one person visits several pages on the same site it is still one UV.

Memetag and Technorati Authority

Other than Alexa Rank and Google Pagerank I also want to have a High Technorati Authority.
Since Technorati is one of the leading blog search engine, improving your Technorati Authority can contribute to increase your blog visibility, traffic, and reputation in the blogosphere.

The best way that I can suggest to increase your Technorati Authority is to join on different Memetag.

So what is Memetag?
Memetag is an idea, project, statement or even a question that is posted by one blog and responded to by other blogs.
Wiki define it as a blog tool included in all posts that reference a meme

If you’re not familiar with it, the idea is that someone starts a meme about something, provides their responses to the meme, and then tags a number of other bloggers to pass on the meme.

Example:

A blogger invites five other bloggers to list their ‘top five songs of all time’.

Those bloggers publish their list, incude the memetag that links back to the original invite, then invites five more bloggers and asks them to include a link to the original post.

The next five list their top five songs of all time, each linking back to the original post using the memetag. Each of them invites five more friends.

And so on.

Do you want to give it a try?

Then, I will give you the opportunity to join on this Viral Tagging and memetag shared to me by JoanJoyce. Thanks for this Ate

* Just Cut and paste the following starting here.*

I have randomly selected 5 of you below to be tagged and I hope that you will similarly publish this post in your blog. You will have to tag 5 other bloggers and just keep adding on to the list. (Do not replace, just keep on adding! Yes we hope it will be a long list!)It’s real easy! Tag others and see your Technorati Authority increase exponentially!
The benefits of Viral Linking:- One of the fastest ways to see your technorati authority explode!- Increase your Google PageRank fast- Attract large volume of new traffic to your site- Build your community- Make new friends!

The Strategist Notebook, Link Addiction, Ardour of the Heart, When Life Becomes a Book, The Malaysian Life, Yogatta.com, What goes under the sun Roshidan’s Cyber Station,Sasha says,Arts of Physics,And the legend lives,My View, My Life,A Simple Life,Juliana RW,The Callalily Space,Petra,Summer in Blue,Confessions of an Army Wife,Bless’ Sanctuary,Happy Life,Living @ Evergreen State,La Place de Cherie,Chez Francine,Le bric a brac de Cherie Little Peanut, Pea in a Pod, The Creative In Me,Me and Mine,Pinay Mommy,Expressions from the Heart,TeacherJulie, Sweetbites by Bang, Paul, Toni and Lance - Bridging the Distance, Our Growing Family, The Uncensored life of me, My Untamed World, Yan-Ple’s Party Shop, Childstar Band, My Scrappy Side, BLOGGERHAPPY.COM, Fun.Fierce.Fabulous, Nap Time Rocks!, joanjoyce, Make Money Online, add your site here.

A gold card from Haze

After playing Defense of the Ancient (DOTA) for 5 hours, I feel tired and sleepy but after I shutdown my PC, I checked first my Yahoo Messenger account if I received an important message. Then I found out that I have an offline message from Ate haze informing that she gave me an award, So here it is.

gold card blogging friends forever tag

This interesting award is called Blogging Friends Forever (BFF) Gold Card Award.
It’s like a real Gold Visa Card at first sight. Thanks for this sweet award Ate Haze, Very much appreciated. I will cherish this friendship forever and ever. I hope to meet many Blogger like you in the future.

I would like to share this to all of my visitors out there especially to anaps, jennyr, alpha, alohapenny, bambiediby and makoy for leaving a kind comment.
I hope we can be friends too ^_^ take care as always!

Where is my Pagerank?

Yesterday I’m so happy because all the bloggers that are included on my friendly tag have visited on my blog and leave some comment. But as I looked at the upper part of my internet explorer I noticed that the pagerank in google toolbar is now purely white and the alt says no pagerank information available. What the heck!

I know that this situation is not new to you, since many blogger already experienced this. And somehow loosing PR1 is not a dramatic story compared to the other blogger who have PR5 or PR4 then became PR0 after the pagerank update.

Still, I’m not feeling well about it. because, I’m the kind of person who, for example, I have a hundred sheeps and one of them disappears, I will try to find where that sheep is, no matter what.

But in this case hmmmn, I know where my PR is, it’s gone…
And there’s nothing I can do with that. Wish me luck next time.

How to write like a pro

While reading some magazines that I borrowed from our neighbor, I found an article on Girlfriend Magazine June 2007 edition located on Page 55 entitled How to write like a pro by Gina Abuyuan. This is somehow related to blogging that you may find helpful especially for a new blogger like me. I just summarized the description so it start like this.

Having impeccable grammar and a great “concept” isn’t enough; there are irrevocable rules in writing one must follow if you’re considering making a career of it. Here are the 16.

1.Cut the clutter.
Simplify. Can any thought be expressed with more economy? Are you hanging onto something because you think it’s beautiful? Some writers like to hold onto certain words or sentences because it sounds “so original” or they’ve fallen in love with their own work. Be objective. Learn to edit yourself

2.Be yourself when you write.
Strip down work before building up again, this way you can develop your own style. Do not attempt to consciously garnish your prose. Don’t say things in writing that you wouldn’t comfortably say in conversation.

3.Care for words.
Learn to arrange words so that they sound melodious and rhythmical. Readers not only read with their eyes, they hear the words in their inner ear.

4.Know correct usage.
know the difference between reference and allusion, connive and conspire, compare with and compare to. Be careful when using faddish words.

5.Write About what you know.
It’s easiest to write about something you’re an expert on. If you’re not, gather as much material on it as you can. And whether or not you’re writing about something you know or something you’re researching about, remember it comes in to steps: you perceive (use your senses and give details), and inquire(research, interview, self-inquire).

6.Use picture words.
Don’t say “We lived a long way off from town.” Rather, say: “We had to ride two jeepneys, walk past a school and a church for 20 minutes, and crossed a small stream before reaching the town.” Always try to put an image in the mind of your reader.

7.Watch the load of your sentence more than the length.
Don’t overwhelm the reader with too much info. Don’t make the reader feel like he or she is drowning in imagery or thought. Use short sentences to deliver impact

8.Avoid new words and expressions
Unless your audience calls for it. Example, “jologs,” “chillin.” be clear with your writing and what you want to say.

9.Avoid Idioms.
Especially you’re not native to them, like “woke up on the wrong side of the bed,” “dead from the neck up.” They sound clumsy and unreal.

10.Be careful with comparisons and analogies.
Some writers like to sound really intellectual and interesting. They use metaphors that only they can understand. They think they’re impressive, it only serve to alienate the reader. Use familiar ones but not clichés.

11.Punctuate simply.
If you yourself are confused by what you’re trying to say, then there’s something wrong with it. Read it again and edit.

12.Don’t leave room for misconception.
Write what you mean to say. Have a well-articulated purpose for your writing. What do you want your reader to know?

13.Avoid having to translate; don’t “double quote”.
For example, “He was livid with rage. ‘I’m burning with anger,’ he said.”

14.Good writing has musicality
Does it sound right to your inner ear? It has a rhythm and cadence. This comes automatically to more sophisticated writers.

15.Have fun with the creative process.
If you’re not having fun, maybe you should find a different game. And don’t worry if you think your process isn’t “right.”

16.Always remember the three characteristics of good writing:
It must be clear, visual and uses language logically
